CHESSBD walkthru - ICS arena
The ICS arena window contains several major features.
-
The autoqueen, autoflag, and variant checkboxes.
-
Normally autoqueen is checked.
If you want to promote to something other than a queen,
uncheck this checkbox before making your pawn move:
a dialog will appear when you make the move.
-
Normally autoflag is checked.
Uncheck it if you don't want your opponent to be flagged
automatically, or if you've turned on the server's autoflag variable.
-
Normally variant is not checked.
Check it if you are playing a game with non-standard
rules, such as kriegspiel or suicide.
Otherwise you will not be able to make "illegal" moves.
-
The who refresh button.
This button sends a "who" command to the server, and captures
the resulting list in the who listbox. (See below.)
-
The who listbox.
This listbox contains the most recent who listing.
When you click on a line in the who listbox, a bank
of buttons pops up.
The buttons let you choose what operation you want to perform
on that user, for example doing a finger on the user, checking
out her game history, issuing a challenge, etc.
Many CHESSBD features work this way.
You should refresh the who listbox occasionally by pressing
.
-
The challenge listbox.
Challenges and seeks from other players go here.
When you click on one of the lines here,
a bank of buttons pops up, similar to the who listbox.
You can accept a challenge, or finger the challenger, etc.
-
A bank of user-programmable arena buttons.
You can program these buttons by selecting
Opt|arena buttons...
